Offshore
We got 2 opportunities to get offshore in Federal Waters this week fishing 120′- 400′. We had lots of action on cutbait and artificials. We caught lots of Vermilion (they seem to be everywhere), big Greater Amberjack, big Red Snapper in the deeper water, limits on Triggerfish, a few Scamp Grouper and a Red Hind Grouper. We also managed to pull a handful of Mahi in as well off of some floating grass despite it being pretty sparse. The Mahi weren’t big but they were sandwich size and I’m sure were tasty. Offshore sea conditions are still pretty harsh only occasionally providing days where we can get out. If you’re interested in an offshore, give us a call. We’ll give you the straight story on sea conditions, weather and what’s biting and how we are catching them. The best bang for your buck will be a 6hr Federal charter though we do offer 5hr State water charters. We’ll show you a good time either way.
Inshore
It appears that the the Spring transition is ending with lots of Specs and some Reds finishing their relocation back to the lower bay waters and the sound. A few weeks ago, they were still difficult to find but now we’re catching good numbers of Specs with a few slots in the mix. Reds are jumping in every once in a while as well. Early morning is when we are catching most of the fish. The bite tends to taper off as we get to mid morning. This time of year is nice inshore and is a nice alternative to going offshore especially if you’re a little anxious about the larger water.
