Pensacola Fishing Report – Deep Sea / Offshore / Inshore Fishing | Catching the Next Mermaid | Week Ending September 20, 2026
Fleet Expansion Week | No Charters Run
There isn’t much of a traditional fishing report to give this week, and for once we’re perfectly happy about that. Instead of running charters or scouting trips, Captains Paul and Eric spent the week taking another major step forward for Double D Fishing Charters of NW Florida by bringing home a 2023 Twin Vee 260 GFX powered by twin Suzuki 200-horsepower outboards.
Most of the week was devoted to final pickup, the long tow home from Wilmington, North Carolina, and getting the new vessel cleaned, organized and beginning the upgrades needed to prepare her for offshore fishing and future charter service.
Deep Sea / Offshore / Slow Pitch Jigging Fishing Charters Pensacola
We did not make any offshore trips this week.
Our offshore time was traded for the trip to Wilmington and the work involved in getting the new boat home and ready for the Gulf. She’s not yet permitted for charter service, so the next step will be putting some personal offshore hours on her, learning how she rides and fishes, and continuing to dial in the equipment layout before customers come aboard.
We expect some of those first trips to be slow-pitch jigging trips, which should give us a good opportunity to learn the boat in the kind of offshore fishing we spend a lot of time doing.
Inshore Fishing Charters Pensacola
There was no inshore charter or scouting activity this week either.
The inshore trends we’ve been watching through September remain important, but this particular week was simply devoted to the fleet expansion and getting the newest Mermaid settled in at home.
We’ll get back to tracking the trout, redfish and flounder movement as our regular scouting schedule resumes.
Looking Ahead
So while there are no fish pictures or stories of epic battles of 8yr olds and monster grouper to report this week, there was plenty happening behind the scenes.
We’re still a couple of weeks away from having the new vessel properly permitted and placed into charter service, but we’re excited to begin putting some offshore time on her and learning what she can do.
Adding another vessel is an important step forward for Double D Fishing Charters of NW Florida, and we’re looking forward to sharing the newest Mermaid with our customers in the not-too-distant future.
