Offshore
We ran 3 offshore trips this week and caught Red Snapper, Amber Jack, Bonita, Trigger Fish, Great Barracuda and an Atlantic Sailfish. Most fish were caught on cut bait but the bigger fish tended to come off of a free line with live bait drifting from the back of the boat or live bait suspended under the boat. The water is still hot and the waves were usually 2′ or less. If the period between waves is 5+ secs, the waves are more like swells. Saturday we caut over 30 triggerfish with only one of them being over 15″. We fished with Bonita, Ladyfish and squid cut baits and stopped for live bait on the way out. The channel buoys are holding bait and the small artificials near the Joe Patti Memorial are holding bait as well.
Inshore
We booked one inshore charter and talked the client into going offshore instead. Everyone was happy.
